During the pandemic, shooting a new commercial was close to impossible. Home Depot also needed to show its staff wearing masks.

So we started with an old commercial. We added face masks wherever they were needed, and made the old spot look new.

Why this worked. A new shoot means crew, locations and risk. Editing existing footage skipped all of that. It is a practical use of VFX that most people never think about.
