CG, Simulation and Compositing
Not every shot can be filmed. Some things are easier, safer or cheaper to build on a computer. This page covers the projects where we made something in CG, or put the pieces of a shot together.
Liquid simulation is when the computer works out how a liquid moves: how it pours, splashes and settles. An artist sets up the scene and the rules. The software does the movement. It looks real because it follows how liquid actually behaves.
Compositing is putting all the pieces of a shot together: the filmed footage, the CG, the cleanup. Done well, it looks like one image.
CG replacement means swapping a real object in a shot for a CG one, such as a product or a bottle. It needs the camera to be tracked first, so the new object sits correctly.
Frooti: Alia Bhatt
We did the liquid simulation for this Frooti spot.
Frooti: Varun Dhawan
We did the liquid simulation for this Frooti spot too.
Coffee 3D Simulation
We decided to do an in-house project to showcase some of our new skills. A coffee simulation was the result.
Appy Fizz 2021
We did some of the CG bottle replacement and the motion graphics.
Hamilton Beach
We worked on the compositing and the product cleanups for this spot.
UCSF
We worked on three comping and 3D shots on this project.
More CG and compositing on our site
- Appy Fizz: CG placed between live-action elements, with 22 layers of mattes in one shot.
- AI Experimentation Reel: shots rendered 100 percent with AI tools.
