Acura NSX

A car that changes colour. Big landscapes. A camera that has to be tracked while the car moves through the foreground.

That was the Acura NSX spot. We called it exciting because it was hard.

Where the work went:

  1. Rotoscopy. We cut the shots into several layers, so each element could be controlled on its own.
  2. Match-moving. We tracked the camera in shots where the car was moving in the foreground.

Why the tracking is hard. Match-moving works out where the camera was, using points in the scene that stay still. A car moving through the frame is not one of them. It has to be kept out of the track. It is never easy.
